Reminder from Your SCC – Vandermeer Winter Fundraiser

Hello Southwood Families:

Again, just a little reminder that we are coming up to the end of our SCC Vandermeer Winter Fundraiser, with the December 8th order deadline fast approaching.
A heartfelt thanks to those who have already made a purchase; your contribution in helping us support and enhance our students’ learning is truly appreciated.
To make a purchase, please do so via School Cash Online. These $30.00 Vandermeer gift cards can be used for a wide range of products and do not expire. They make great gifts, and will be distributed December 14th and 15th, well before the Winter holiday break!

End of Day Dismissal

If you are arriving at the end of the school day to pick up your child(ren), here are a couple of key reminders:

1) Please allow the class to make its way to their meeting area before taking your child for the day. We are having some parents crowding around the exits, pulling their child from the class line before they have made their way to the meeting area. This causes congestion (which we are trying to minimize), and compromises safety.

2) Please ensure that you are always wearing a mask when on school property.

Mayor and Council Holiday Food and Toy Drive of Ajax

This year, we will be collecting non-perishable food and general items to be brought to the Town of Ajax as part of their Holiday Food and Toy Drive.
We can accept the following items:

 

  • Portable phone chargers
  • Cell phone charge cords (usually for android)
  • Gift cards
  • New clothing
  • New towels
  • New linens
  • New toiletries
  • New pajamas (sizes small to XXL male and female)
  • Crafts supplies
  • Non-perishable food items
  • New Toys

If you wish to contribute, please feel free to drop off your donation in our front entrance at any time. We will be accepting donations until December 15th at 3:40 p.m. Thank you in advance for your support of this drive!

 

Holiday Showcase

A reminder of our Holiday Showcase that will be made available for viewing, starting December 17th.
Details on how to connect will be shared with you as we approach the 17th. :o)


Immunizations for Grade 7 and 8 Students

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Durham Region Health Department will not be conducting immunization programs in schools. School-Based Vaccine Immunization Clinics for Grade 7 and 8 students are now available in the community. Visit www.durham.ca/immunizationclinics, to book an appointment for your child. You will have the option to book an appointment based on a time and location most convenient for you and your family.

If you have any trouble accessing the booking site, please call into Immunization Program at 905-668-6242, or Durham Health Connection Line at 905-668-2020 for assistance.
